For your issues you have a severity rating field that list severity from 1 to 3. If an issue creator selects severity 1 you want the issue to use Elevator for JIRA to assign to on-call and alert them. For this scenario we created a custom field called Issue Severity and a custom workflow transition named 'Escalate'

  • Firstly you will need to create a custom 'Escalate' workflow transition which uses the Elevator for JIRA workflow function to perform escalation to a chosen roster - see Setting up automation though JIRA Workflow
  • Next, create Create a 'Severity' custom field (How to create a custom field)
  • Next, start creating your automation rule:
    • At the bottom left of your project page select the cog to access the project administration page
    • Under Summary options select Automation
    • Select Add your first automation rule
    • Select Custom Rule
